Ludovic "Mikedou" Riehl
Business school graduate, it was while working in the finance sector that Ludovic discovered poker. Testament to the success that can be achieved from hard work and perseverance, he became one of the most respected online tournament players in France. However, it was his participation in the Winamax Top Shark Academy which catapulted him into the spotlight: his victory in this competition earned him the right to join the Winamax Pro Team for one year, which was then renewed for a second year.
Ludovic Riehl can be described in two words: ambitious and perfectionist. A pure product of online poker, he first learned about Texas Hold’em in 2008 when he saw Winamax pro Michel Abécassis commentating on the WSOP on television.
Immediately he deposited $50 on an online poker site and played the entire night. Whilst at his desk the next day he began to analyse the game, his statistician’s mind calculated the probabilities of making a set or having your flush draw come in. He quickly realised that most players pay too much to for a draw among many other mistakes.
For one year, Ludovic tried every type of No Limit Hold’em: tournament, Sit & Go and cash games. In 2009, he decided to specialise in Sit & Go games in order to build his bankroll. Thanks to the many tools available on the internet (forums, videos), Ludovic improved his game and earned positive results. During this time he started playing multi-table tournaments, simply with the intention of having fun. To his surprise he quickly learned how to do more than just survive, realising the potential profit in tournaments.
When the regulated French market opened, Ludovic moved to Barcelona with the ambition of starting his own company, thus giving him more time to play poker. It was at this time that he discovered Top Shark on Winamax. After three months of competition against thousands of other players, Ludovic took a shot at the grand prize and won the envied contract with Team Winamax.
Ludovic still plays very regularly on Winamax, particularly in multi-table tournaments. He can be found under the table name “Mikedou”.
