Ludovic “Sir Cuts” Lacay
A product of the poker boom, Ludovic Lacay is a real example of the modern poker professional. Arriving on the circuit in 2007, “Sir Cuts” has had an enviable run: showing his moves in the world’s biggest tournaments; reaching the final table at the EPT Varsovie, two WPT final tables, 16th in the WSOP Main Event and to top it all off he won an EPT title at San Remo in 2012!
Like many contemporary online poker players, Ludovic has a background in video games, notably a member of one of the most successful French “Counter Strike” teams before making his name in the poker world.
It was at the age of just 19 that he played his first game of online poker, giving himself the name “Sir Cuts” and playing with the modest sum of just $5 lent to him by a friend.
That first $5 was lost quickly, but Ludovic already knew that this game was made for him. He took another $3 and started, quickly moving up the online cash game stakes as he improved his game and his bankroll.
In 2007, after impressive performances in Barcelona and Las Vegas, Winamax offered this young player with incredible talent a sponsorship. The gamble soon paid off with a second place finish in the WPT Barcelona.
Over the course of just one tournament, Ludovic Lacay went from being a young unknown to a star of the European poker scene and one of the major French talents.
Success continued to follow “Sir Cuts” until he realised the dream of every poker player and went on a very deep run at the biggest tournament in the world, the World Series of Poker 2009 Main Event. After eight days of exhausting play, Ludovic was finally eliminated 16th from a field of 6,494 players for a payday of over $500,000.
Despite many close runs and being recognised as one of the best tournament players in France, a first title continued to elude Lacay. That is until in 2012 Sir Cuts conquered a field of 796 at the European Poker Tour San Remo, winning not only his first major title, but also the largest cash of his career at €744,910.
While looking for new challenges to undertake, Ludovic Lacay can still be found playing the highest online stakes at Winamax under the name “Sir Cuts”.
