Davidi "Kitbul" Kitai

Behind his whimsical air, Davidi Kitai is a true war machine: the Belgian is among the rare players in the world to have won a title on each of the three major circuits (the World Poker Tour, the World Series of Poker and the European Poker Tour), holds three World Championship bracelets and has even recently triumphed on the new partypoker circuit. Affectionately nicknamed “the Genius” by the entire French-speaking community, the Winamax Pro possesses all the qualities of a good tournament player: composure, confidence, a touch of madness, and an incredible ability to read his opponents’ strategy. Also a specialist in online cash games, mainly in Pot-Limit Omaha, Davidi adds aggression and adaptability to his arsenal, making him a complete player.

At the poker table, Davidi Kitai shares the character traits of his cinematic hero, Rocky: “courage, determination, patience and fighting spirit.” Essential qualities in poker: during long competitions, it’s the “eye of the tiger” that can make the difference!

It was during a study trip that Davidi discovered poker. “I went to Los Angeles for six months in 2003, initially to learn English, explains the then 23-year-old from Brussels. In the end, with the over-media coverage of poker over there, it was mainly Texas Hold’em that I perfected!”

Back in Europe, Davidi began playing online and won several major tournaments. He qualified for several international competitions and quickly became a familiar face on the professional circuit, notably after an eleventh-place finish at the European Poker Tour in Barcelona and a victory at the Euro Finals of Poker in Paris in 2006. Little by little, he became considered one of the great hopes of a still-developing Belgian poker scene.

In May 2008, Davidi Kitai joined the team of professional players at Team Winamax. He quickly integrated with the cheerful group of French players and announced his goals: “bringing home the first WSOP bracelet to Belgium would be a great personal pride.”

Barely a month later, the mission was accomplished: on June 22, under the eyes of the cameras broadcasting the event live on the Internet, Davidi won the $2,000 Pot-Limit Hold’em event at the World Series of Poker. Amid the cheers of his teammates gathered in the stands, he became the first member of Team Winamax to conquer a World Championship title. It was the consecration: Davidi was Belgium’s number one!

Carried by the momentum of his first bracelet, Davidi continued to pile up strong results. A week later, he reached another WSOP final table in No-Limit Hold’em, where his sixth-place finish confirmed that his first title was no fluke. Back in Europe, he stayed on a roll by once again making the final table of EPT Barcelona, ending in a solid third place. The following year, at the 2009 WSOP, he distinguished himself once more by reaching the final of the prestigious $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold’em event, finishing fourth and surpassing the one-million-dollar mark in live tournament winnings. His rise was only just beginning.

In 2011, success once again knocked on Davidi’s door, with a superb victory earned in Los Angeles during the Hollywood stop of the World Poker Tour. In second place was his Team Winamax teammate Almira Skripchenko. The two players offered us some beautiful emotional moments on that occasion!

But it was in 2012 that he truly left his mark… By winning the European Poker Tour in Berlin, the Belgian entered the very exclusive club of Triple Crown holders, awarded to players who have won titles on all three major circuits: EPT, WPT and WSOP.

Insatiable, Davidi claimed a second WSOP bracelet in June 2013, in the same format as the first he won five years earlier, in Pot-Limit Hold’em, but this time in a $5,000 buy-in event. This new performance earned him $225,000. Even before winning this second bracelet, the Belgian had already announced, with the utmost seriousness, that the third was planned for 2014… Promise kept: just after arriving in Vegas the following summer, Davidi won his very first event of the festival, a 6-max No-Limit tournament. And this, just a few days after winning the very first edition of the SISMIX in Marrakech. The cup was overflowing: not only did he hold the famous “Triple Crown”, but Davidi now had his wrists well loaded with three World Championship bracelets, firmly establishing himself in the Pantheon of world players at just 34 years old.

A collection the Belgian genius nearly expanded several times between 2015 and 2016, with yet another WSOP final table in Las Vegas in Pot-Limit Omaha (7th) and two runner-up finishes - first in Berlin in the High Roller of the WSOP Europe and then, the following summer, once again in Sin City, in the prestigious 6-max Championship, at the end of a memorable tournament followed by the cameras of Inside the Mind of a Pro. It was ultimately on the brand-new partypoker circuit that Dav’ captured another major title, winning in Barcelona in spring 2018 against the best players on the planet in a €25,500 Super High Roller.

Between two online sessions on Winamax, where he has repeatedly won the biggest tournaments (Highroller, Grand Tournament, XTASE, ten Winamax Series titles), Davidi continues to impress on the circuit thanks to his immense talent and his opponent reads worthy of a “Genius.” With more than 11.6 million dollars in live tournament winnings amassed since 2006, Davidi is undeniably one of the greats of our favorite game: those who manage to adapt in order to keep producing results, year after year.
