Adrien Guyon comes from a generation of French players who first got to grips with online poker when the French market became regulated in 2010. He started out as a cash game player, learning his first lessons at the micro-stakes tables, before becoming more and more interested in tournament poker. At first in Sit&Go games, and then MTTs, where he quickly made a name for himself.
For the following five years, Adrien put together one of the most impressive résumés on Winamax: from the Highroller and the Magnum, to the Afterwork, Rush Hour, Deep Run and even the Go Fast, Shakkkiraa won them all. An incredible progression for a player who began at the very bottom of the ladder with just pennies at stake.
But it was in the Winamax Series where his talent manifested in spectacular fashion: Adrien won his first event in September 2012, then a second in January 2013 before making history in April 2014 as the first player to win three Winamax Series titles!
As ambitious as he is talented, the Poitiers Poker Club member tried his hand at live poker, with immediate success. Adrien earned victory right away in a modest €150 buy-in tournament at the Gujan Mestras casino followed by numerous good results in similar tournaments, including a win in a €100 side-event at the Winamax Poker Open Dublin 2012 and 22nd place in the Main Event of the 2013 edition.
In 2014, Adrien added to his list of achievements by winning the 6th edition of KING5 – the French Championships of Team Poker. With four friends, he realised the dream that for many amateur poker players is close to impossible: qualifying for the most renowned tournament in the world, the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. This trip to Vegas yielded fruit, despite not shining in the big one, he nevertheless went home with two more ITM finishes on his résumé (Events 56 + 22).
It was in 2015 that this young man’s career moved on to a whole new level. After making a brief appearance in the 2012 season of Top Shark, Shakkkiraa set foot in the competition again in the fourth season. More experienced and supported by the community, Adrien battled his way to the final, where he was the favourite to win. The competition was close from beginning to end, but Adrien emerged victorious, winning his place in Team Winamax.
So began a new chapter and in his first tournament as a Winamax Pro, in Deauville, the Top Shark was not intimidated by the international talent he was up against. His determination in the face of all challenges and his technical ability allowed him to make a very deep run, eventually finishing in 16th position out of 592 players.
Joining the most successful poker team in Europe is a dream for thousands of players every year. Adrien has realised this dream, but it’s clear that for him, the best is yet to come…
