Winamax strengthens its commitment to esports

By entering League of Legends and Valorant alongside two of the best European teams of the moment, the red W secures a prime position on one of the biggest competitive stages in the world.

Winamax X G2 Esports Heretics

Packed arenas, giant screens, players turned into superstars, communities buzzing with excitement: the esports boom is now global. Bringing together millions of players every month, the flagship titles of the scene have gone beyond the scope of simple games to become fully fledged ecosystems. Each event is eagerly awaited and followed by a growing horde of fans, eyes fixed on the stages where the heroes of a new generation are forged.

Winamax, which has always believed in esports, collaborated with major teams, sponsored competitions and supported the scene in its development, is now strengthening its investment in this space with a major announcement. To write this new chapter, Winamax is setting up where esports beat the strongest: League of Legends and Valorant, alongside G2 Esports and Team Heretics.

With the biggest names

Winamax X G2 Esports

If you’re going to enter the game, you might as well do it with a heavyweight. On League of Legends, Winamax is therefore teaming up with G2 Esports, the most iconic European club on the scene. Based in Berlin, the organisation is used to reaching the top, competing on the biggest international stages and stepping into the spotlight. Among its ranks is the Dane Caps, a living legend of the game, often considered one of—if not the—best player in Europe, notably alongside the French duo SkewMond - Hans Sama. A team that embodies top-tier excellence, as evidenced by its many European titles and its run to the World Championship final in 2019.

On Valorant, the spotlight shifts to Spain with Team Heretics, one of the most influential organisations on the continent. Also present on LoL, the Spanish organisation has established itself as a benchmark, driven by a strong and spectacular roster: Boo, Wo0tLax, RieNs, ComeBack, and above all benjyfishy, a global superstar with colossal reach, followed by a massive community since his first exploits on Fortnite.

Finally, in Germany, Winamax becomes the Official Betting Partner of G2 Esports for the Kings League, a seven-a-side football competition blending sport, entertainment and digital culture.

Concretely, this collaboration will be visible both on and off the field. During all appearances outside official competitions (festivals, videos, interviews, etc.), the red W will take pride of place right at the centre of the jerseys worn by G2 Esports and Heretics players… jerseys that you will soon be able to get your hands on in exchange for Miles in our VIP Shop. This partnership will also lead to the launch of HopEUm, a weekly podcast bringing together professional players, content creators and guests from the European esports scene.

For official competitions, the setup adapts: the ambassadors who will be commenting the games will wear the team jersey featuring a beautifully embroidered “Winamax”. More generally, you can count on us to be visible in the background during streams.

We are extremely proud of this coming together of two worlds, Winamax and esports, which have always had so much in common!

When it comes to esports today, one name towers above all others: Riot Games. In less than twenty years, the California-based publisher has revolutionised the video game industry, shaping a phenomenon whose success is as meteoric as it is spectacular—an undisputed new spearhead for the entire industry: League of Legends. A success story repeated a few years later with Valorant, which has become the new benchmark in the world of competitive shooters. Today, as part of its desire to open up to the betting market, Riot has approved Winamax as the very first “Official Sports Betting Operator” in Europe. A strong and valuable recognition that honours us.

These partnerships mark a key milestone for Winamax. Obtaining Official Sports Betting Operator status for Riot Games’ esports competitions reflects the work carried out by Winamax to meet the requirements of this programme. Becoming an official partner of G2 Esports’ League of Legends team, its players and its co-streamers confirms our ambition to establish ourselves sustainably within the esports ecosystem. Together, we will offer unique experiences to the team’s fans and, more broadly, to esports fans.”  — Julien Huber, Marketing Manager at Winamax

We are incredibly excited to work with a truly pan-European partner that perfectly matches G2’s DNA. Our fans are everywhere, literally in every country, and collaborating with a brand that shares this same European identity makes a lot of sense for us. With the launch of HopEUm, we wanted to go beyond a classic partnership and create a project that brings real value to our fans and to the community.”  — Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2 Esports

"This agreement reflects the degree of professionalization the esports ecosystem has reached in Europe. To collaborate with a partner such as Winamax, within a regulated environment and under criteria of responsibility, enables us to pursue an ambitious, but also sustainable, project. At Team Heretics we understand these alliances as the means to solidify our presence in League of Legends and VALORANT, to invest in quality content for our community and guarantee the club’s long-term stability." — Antonio Catena, CEO of Team Heretics
