How the HUD (Heads-Up Display) Works

The HUD gets a makover

🆕Update your Winamax app (mobile and desktop) to discover the new version of the HUD — more accurate, more practical, and enhanced with statistics tailored for the Expresso format!

The Winamax software includes a real-time statistical dashboard, displayed directly on your poker table. This dashboard (HUD, short for Heads-Up Display) helps you refine your understanding of your opponents — and of yourself! — by keeping track of key data points from the action at the table.

To enable or disable the HUD display, click on the Bouton T button located in the bottom-right corner of the table.

Four statistics are displayed by the HUD, underneath each player’s nickname at the table (including your own). By clicking on a player’s nickname, you can also take notes about that player and/or assign them a “tag” — a color label of your choice. All statistics shown in the HUD are explained below, as well as in the application’s settings menu.

The HUD in Tournaments (MTT), Sit&Go (fullring) and Cash Games

In tournaments (MTT), Sit&Go (fullring) and cash games, the statistics displayed by the HUD are as follows:

VPIP VPIP stands for Voluntary Put $ in Pot. This number represents the percentage of hands in which a player has voluntarily invested money preflop.

  • Only hands where the player has voluntarily put chips into the pot are counted. Hands where the player is in the big blind and simply checks after no preflop raise are not included. A player with a low VPIP is generally considered tight — someone who carefully selects their hands. Conversely, a player with a high VPIP can be seen as active and involved in many pots — playing a wide range of hands. However, a high VPIP doesn’t necessarily mean the player is aggressive! VPIP mainly tells you how many hands your opponents play, not how they play them. To measure a player’s aggressiveness, you’ll want to look instead at the PFR statistic below.

PFR PFR stands for Preflop Raise. This number represents the percentage of hands that a player raises preflop.

  • In other words, PFR indicates how often a player takes the initiative before the flop. At a short-handed table (5 or 6 players), a PFR below 15% suggests a cautious, tight player. On the other hand, a PFR above 25% points to a very aggressive player, one who plays a wide range of hands — far beyond premium pairs and Ace-King. Good to know: preflop re-raises (3-bets, 4-bets, etc.) are also included in the PFR statistic. By definition, PFR can never be higher than VPIP. Pay attention to the gap between these two numbers: a small difference often indicates a solid, well-balanced player. And one last thing to remember when analyzing PFR: aggression frequency naturally changes depending on table size. It’s normal to raise fewer hands at a full ring table (8 or 9 players) than in heads-up (2 players).

3-bet 3-BET is the logical follow-up to PFR: it shows the percentage of hands a player re-raises preflop.

  • This is an indicator of how often a player re-aggresses against other aggressive players. Like PFR, a high 3-bet percentage reveals a very aggressive style. Note: re-raises made against an opponent’s 3-bet (such as 4-bets, 5-bets, etc.) are also included in this statistic.

HANDS : this final HUD statistic is the simplest: it shows the number of hands you’ve played at the same table as that player during the last 60 days.

The HUD in Heads-Up Sit&Go

On Heads-Up SNGs, the HUD displays a different set of statistics from those shown in tournaments, fullring SNGs or cash games.

VPIP BTPR : percentage of hands in which the player raised preflop from the button.
PFR C-BET: percentage of hands in which the player continuation-bet on the flop after being the last preflop raiser.

BBFR BBFR : percentage of hands in which the player folded their big blind after a button raise.

HANDS: number of hands played at the same HU SNG table as this player during 3-handed Expresso play over the last 60 days.

The HUD in Expresso

On Expresso tables, the HUD displays a different set of statistics from those shown in tournaments, SNGs or cash games. These stats also change depending on whether there are 3 players left (3-handed) or 2 players (heads-up).

3-handed

VPIP BVTP : percentage of hands in which the player voluntarily invested chips preflop from the button.

PFR PFR : percentage of hands in which the player raised preflop.

LSB LSB : percentage of hands where the player completed the small blind (after a button fold) without raising.

HANDS: number of hands played at the same table as this player during 3-handed Expresso play over the last 60 days.

Heads-up

VPIP BTPR : percentage of hands in which the player raised preflop from the button.
PFR C-BET: percentage of hands in which the player continuation-bet on the flop after being the last preflop raiser.
BBFR BBFR : percentage of hands in which the player folded their big blind after a button raise.

HANDS: number of hands played at the same table as this player during heads-up Expresso play over the last 60 days.

Good to know

  • All statistics are displayed as percentages, thus the maximum possible value is 100.
  • The colors used to represent each statistic are purely aesthetic and do not reflect the values themselves (for example, a red PFR stat doesn’t mean your opponent is on fire!).
  • You can toggle the HUD on or off by clicking the Bouton T button at the bottom right of the table. mobile, faites glisser la table vers le haut pour afficher l’option d’activation/désactivation. On mobile, swipe the table upward to show the activation/deactivation option.
  • To automatically enable the HUD on all your tables, go to the Options menu → “Table” → “Show player statistics.”
  • The HUD stores data for a rolling period of 60 days. If you want a HUD that keeps statistics (yours and your opponents’) for a longer duration, check out the Winamax VIP Store, where you’ll find approved third-party tracking tools.
  • You must be seated at the table for the HUD to be active. Observers do not have access to the HUD display.
  • The HUD is available on cash game, tournament (MTT), Sit&GO and Expresso tables.
  • In cash games, statistics for hands played in No-Limit Hold'em (NLHE) are separate from the statistics for hands played in Omaha (PLO and PLO5).
  • The HUD is not available on FLOOP, Incognito tables, or exotic poker variants (such as Stud, Deuce to Seven, H.O.R.S.E., etc.).
